Keeping your presentations on brand when everyone's using AI

Zooming racing track

AI tools have put presentation-making in everyone's hands. Sales, HR, finance and operations teams can all produce a polished-looking deck in minutes. That's great for productivity, but a headache for anyone responsible for the brand.

When dozens of people are generating slides independently, small inconsistencies multiply quickly. Here's how to keep your brand recognisable without slowing anyone down.

How brand drift creeps in

Brand drift rarely happens through one big mistake. It builds up through small, reasonable-seeming choices:

  • Old files as starting points. Someone reuses last year's deck, complete with an outdated logo.

  • AI-generated imagery. Stock-style pictures that look nothing like your photography or illustration style.

  • Off-brand tone. AI-written text that sounds generic, overly formal or not like your organisation at all.

  • Manual tweaks. A colour picked by eye, a font changed to make text fit, a layout stretched out of shape.

  • Different tools. Slides made in one AI tool, documents in another, each with its own default look.

Individually these are minor. Together, they make your organisation look less professional and less trustworthy.

Six practical steps for marketing and comms leads

  1. Make the right template the easy option. Store your official templates where people actually start their work, and archive old versions so they can't be reused by accident.

  2. Build the brand into the template. Set colours, fonts, chart styles and layouts in the master so AI tools and people pick them up automatically.

  3. Write a short AI guide. One page covering when to use AI, which templates to use, how to describe your tone of voice in prompts, and what always needs a human check.

  4. Curate an image library. Give teams approved photography and illustrations so they don't default to generic AI-generated pictures.

  5. Set a review point for high-stakes work. Client pitches, investor materials and public-facing decks should pass a quick brand check before they go out.

  6. Review regularly. Look at a sample of recent decks every quarter, spot recurring issues, and update your templates and guidance to fix them.

Our final thoughts on keeping presentations on-brand

AI doesn't have to dilute your brand. With the right templates, a little guidance and a light-touch review process, it can help your team produce more on-brand work, not less.

SJ Creative Partners helps organisations build the templates, image libraries and guidelines that keep their brand consistent across every presentation. Get in touch to find out how we can help your team.
